About us

Sarah Stanley is the founder of Simple Solutions Event Consultants, Inc. I started my company in the fall of 2002. Having worked in the special event field for over 5 years, I realized that I had a passion for events and the people involved in them. Thus, Simple Solutions was born.

Why the name? I believe that every event no matter how big or small always has a simple solution. When you begin to let stress, the guest list, music selections, and food choices take over; you lose the real reason for having the event-having fun! I want people to enjoy their event whether as a host/hostess or as a guest. For every potential problem/dilemma, remember there is always a simple solution.

Since a young age I loved planning birthday parties, graduation parties and weddings. I also worked with a local caterer and a bed and breakfast. This experience taught me a lot about people, food and beverage service, and detailed planning.

I am also an athlete, recently completing a marathon in 4:07. Being an athlete teaches you dilegence, patience, and hard work. Besides running, I enjoy yoga, Pilates, biking, weight lifting, and anything sports related. I hope to qualify for the Boston Marathon later in 2006.

I grew up on an organic vegetable farm and worked in the fields at a young age. Manual labor will teach you hard work, dilegence, preserverence, long work hours in the sun, rain and yes even the snow and more hard work. You can find the produce today at Whole Foods and other national stores as well as in Washington DC area restaurants. I am also the oldest of 8 children. My little brother still keeps me young with his humor. I attended Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, FL. On April 11th, 2003 I married Dan Smith. When not working on projects for SSEC, he is a database administrator.

If I happen to eat some ice cream, it will be chocolate chip cookie dough. My favorite food is Mexican, although Italtian and Latin are on my top 5 list as well. I love spas and could be the editor for spafinder.com. My favorite color is any shade of purple.
